BYD Plants 1500 trees under “Building Dreams & Forest” CSR Initiative on World Environment Day

Kathmandu – Cimex Inc., the authorized distributor of BYD in Nepal, has planted 1500 trees on the occasion of World Environment Day. The “Building Dreams & Forest” initiative is an afforestation drive campaign in collaboration with the Revolution Project. The campaign aligns with BYD’s vision to “Cool the Earth by One Degree” while reforesting an area at Chakhandol Community Forest in Kathmandu.

Cimex is stepping forward to contribute to reforestation by planting 1500 trees in strategic locations. By taking this initiative, Cimex seeks to mitigate the adverse effects of air pollution in Kathmandu, which has long grappled with the harmful consequences of environmental degradation.

The “Building Dreams & Forest” campaign will employ the sustainable Miyawaki technique for tree plantation, ensuring a holistic and effective afforestation process. This approach, characterized by dense and diverse planting, will foster the growth of a thriving ecosystem within the Chakhandol Community Forest.

Dr. Birendra Prasad Mahato, Minister, Ministry of Forest and Environment, honored the event with his presence. He was part of the inauguration ceremony planting the first sapling, symbolizing the beginning of the campaign.

Cimex Inc, in observance of World Environment Day, also extended invitations to honorable guests, encompassing dear customers, environmental advocates, government representatives, and prominent figures like Mr. Hari Bansha Acharya, the esteemed Brand Ambassador of BYD Nepal. The event ended with a ceremonial planting of around 200 trees, which represented the shared dedication to environmental restoration while the remaining 1300 trees are scheduled to be planted within the next 15 days by the team.

“I am honored to be part of the ‘Building Dreams & Forest’ campaign and witness the collective effort to restore the Chakhandol Community Forest. I believe in the power of sustainable initiatives that not only combat air pollution but also create a greener and healthier future. Let’s join hands and continue our journey towards environmental preservation, one tree at a time.” said Mr. Hari Bansha Acharya, the Brand Ambassador for BYD in Nepal.

“We are thrilled to join forces with the community in this noble endeavor to reforest an area at the Chakhandol Community Forest,” expressed Ms. Yamuna Shrestha, Managing Director, Cimex Inc. “By leveraging sustainable practices and community engagement, we aim to create a greener and healthier environment for the people of Kathmandu.”

All of the 1500 trees were grown in Modern Research Nursery, Kageshwori Manohara and are native to Chakhandol Community Forest. The seeds for the project were brought from various parts of the country in collaboration with Forest Seed Laboratory and Storage Centre, Hattisar, Kathmandu.

Cimex’s “Building Dreams & Forest” campaign on World Environment Day exemplifies the collective effort needed to protect our environment and foster a sustainable future. The organization remains committed to making a positive impact, and through partnerships and community involvement, it aims to inspire others to take action.
